135 - The Halcyon

This bird likes the solitude and always lives near to shores and on the sea. It is said that to flee from the men who give him fighter, he makes his nest in the rocks of the shore.

One day a halcyon that was going to lay, climbed up to a hillock, and having seen a crag raised inside the sea, made in it his nest. One day that she went out in search of meal, the sea level raised because of a storm, reached to the nest and drowned the chicks. On having returned the halcyon and having seen the events, she exclaimed:

"Poor devil of me, fleeing from the dangers known on the ground, I sheltered inside the sea and it was worse for me!"

Never trust blindly in whatever you do not know.
